Emory Receives Diversity in Athletics Award
The Emory University Department of Athletics was recognized by
the NCAA and the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport for its value
and attitudinal diversity during the 2008-09 year.
The award was based on a study conducted by the Laboratory for
Diversity in Sport at Texas A&M University, which collected
data from all 445 NCAA Division III institutions. Employees
at the athletic departments at 199 of the schools responded to
questionnaires, which graded various areas of the diversity in the
department.
Emory was one of nine schools to receive an award for value and
attitudinal diversity, which recognizes colleges and universities
that have studied and put forth measures that take into account
department employee values and attitudes. The award is given
to the athletic departments which received the highest ratings on
the diversity of the values, personality and attitudes of the
employees.
