Emory Athletics Director Tim Downes Elected to NCAA D-III Management Council
Emory University Director of Athletics and Recreation
Tim Downes has been selected to fill one of four
vacancies on the NCAA Division III Management Council. Downes
was elected to the four-year term at the recently held NCAA
Convention in Atlanta.
Joining Downes on the Management Council will be Stanton Ching,
chair of the department of chemistry and faculty athletics
representative at Connecticut College, Portia Lowe, associate
director of athletics and senior woman administrator at Lake Forest
and Christopher Thomforde, president at Moravian.
The Management Council has a myriad of responsibilities including
but not limited to: the resolution of Division III matters; the
implementation of policies adopted by the Presidents Council and
Executive Committee; recommend legislative proposals for
sponsorship by the Presidents Council and the review of appeals by
member institutions of decisions made within the Division III
governance structure.
