Michael Toce serves as the Facility Director for Athletics and
Recreation. Toce's duties include overseeing all indoor and
outdoor recreational space as well as varsity athletic
facilities. Among his many responsibilities is the
oversight of all student employees of the Woodruff Physical
Education Center including hiring, training, scheduling,
supervision and payroll functions. In addition to facility
and staff oversight, Mike is responsible for the day-to-day
general maintenance of all athletic and recreation
facilities. He is involved in the coordination of contractors
for capital projects and improvements. Toce oversees all
internal reservation requests and scheduling of building and field
space. Toce supervises both the aquatics coordinator and
the equipment room coordinator for the Madeline Jude Brown Aquatics
Center and Woodruff P.E. Center, respectively.
Toce began at Emory serving as a graduate assistant events manager
in August 2007 where his duties included overseeing game set up and
breakdown, serving as the assistant game manager and supervision of
all staff for the Eagles' home varsity events. He was
appointed as Interim Facility Coordinator in August 2008,
continuing in that role on a permanent basis from December 2008
until February 2010 when he transitioned into his current role as
Facility Director. In addition to his facility duties, Toce
continued to serve his role as Events Manager until May 2010.
Prior to his arrival at Emory, Toce was an intern for event
management and operations at Quinnipiac University (CT) during the
2006-07 academic years. His other experiences with collegiate
athletics include serving as a student assistant for events while
attending the University of Connecticut. Mike was a
member of the men's club lacrosse team from 2003-05 and managed the
varsity women's lacrosse team during the 2006 season. In
addition, he served as a special assistant to the varsity field
hockey team during their 2005-06 campaign to another Big East
Championship.
Toce also worked for Major League Lacrosse and the Boston Cannons
as a Special Events Intern during the 2006 season. His duties
included the coordination of Cannons Camp, fulfilling season and
individual game ticket orders as well as being the liaison to
corporate partners and organized groups on game days.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the
University of Connecticut in 2007. While at UConn, he
received the honor of Dean's List from the Neag School of
Education. Toce then obtained his Master of Science in Sports
Administration concentrating in school, college, and professional
sports management from Georgia State University in December of
2008.
