Oliver Smith Finishes Second in Heat, T-31st Overall in 50 Free at Olympic Trials
Rising junior Oliver Smith rounded out the Emory swimmers competing at the 2016 Olympic Team Trials on Friday morning, competing in the preliminaries of the 50 Freestyle inside the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. Smith, the NCAA Division III 50 Free Champion at the 2016 NCAA Championships, finished second in his heat with a new long course personal best time of 22.92. Smith’s mark placed him tied for 31st place out of 165 competing swimmers, just .47 seconds behind the qualifying time for tonight’s semifinals.

Christian Baker Makes Olympic Trials Cut in 400 Freestyle
Emory University swimmer Christian Baker has become the third member of the Emory men's swimming & diving team to make the Olympic team trial cut this year, qualifying in the 400 Freestyle event this past weekend. Baker registered a time of 3:56.92 on Saturday night and with that mark, Baker will compete in Omaha, Nebraska from June 26th through July 3rd for a chance to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic team.

NATIONAL CHAMPION!! - Pietsch Wins 400m Dash Title on Day Three of NCAA Outdoor Championships
Sophomore Daniel Pietsch became just the second Emory Men’s Outdoor National Championship ever on Saturday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Pietsch came-from-behind on the final stretch of the race to edge out Monmouth (Ill.)’s James Wilson by just .05 second to win the National Championship. Pietsch posted a school-record time of 46.92 in the event. The Kula, HI native is just the second ever Emory male athlete to be crowned an outdoor national champion, joining Troy Thompson who won the Triple Jump in 1995.

The Emory men’s team saw five athletes recognized in seniors Lukas Mees and Jacob Seigel and a trio of sophomores in Max Brown, Daniel Pietsch and Benjamin Rogin. Hansen Spins Complete Game Shutout as Emory Blanks Marietta, 8-0
Junior Hans Hansen was in complete control on Thursday afternoon, spinning a complete game shutout as Emory defeated Marietta College, 8-0, on day two of the 2016 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Hansen faced just five over the minimum in the game, allowing seven hits, striking out five and did not issue a free pass. With the win, he improved to 9-1 on the year and lowered his earned-run average to an outstanding 1.15 for the season.

14 Eagles in Action at Dr. Keeler Invite and Aggie Last Chance Meet
The Emory University track & field teams continue the final stretch of the outdoor season with a pair of meets this weekend in preparation for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. 14 Eagles will be in competition split across two meets with five traveling to Naperville, IL for the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College and the other nine heading to Greensboro, N.C. for the Aggie Last Chance at North Carolina A&T University. The Dr. Keeler Invite will take place on Thursday, May 12th and Friday, May 13th and the Aggie Last Chance Meet being held on Sunday, May 15th.
