Sophomore (2010):
Schwendel finished his 2010 campaign with a 2-3 record and one save, making seven starts and five appearances out of the bullpen. He notched a 5.93 earned run average, allowing 29 earned runs and striking out 36 batters in 44 innings. Schwendel held opponents to a .288 batting average, the lowest among all Emory pitchers with at least 24 innings pitched, while holding right-handed batters to a .271 batting average (39-for-144). With the bases empty, opponents hit just .260 (19-for-73) off Schwendel. On March 10th against the University of Rochester, Schwendel struck out a career-high eight batters in five and a third innings, capping off back-to-back starts where he struck out 15 in ten and a third innings.
Freshman (2008):
Schwendel recorded a perfect 6-0 record with a 5.01 earned run average during his freshman season for the Eagles. He made seven starts and appeared in six games out of the bullpen, striking out 29 batters in 41.1 innings pitched.

Prior to Emory:
Attended St. Francis High School, where he played on the baseball team for four seasons, serving as the team captain during his senior season... Named to the all-region team in 2007, and was an all-area honorable mention in 2007... Recorded a 1.80 earned run average with 75 strikeouts and four shutouts during the 2007 season... Coached by Kyle Reese in high school.
