Three Eagles Named to all-UAA Tournament Baseball Team

Emory University seniors Dan Molnar and Matthew Katten, and junior Andrew Cohn all earned a spot on the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Tournament team, based on their performance at the 2010 conference tournament.

Molnar hit a tournament-best .583, going seven-for-12 with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and a UAA-record tying nine walks.  The right fielder also led all players with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .773 on base percentage during the five games.  It marks the second-consecutive all-UAA Tournament honor for Molnar.

Katten won both of his starts for Emory during the tournament to lead all players with a 2-0 record, and led all players with two starts with a 1.38 ERA, the third-lowest overall in the tournament.  Katten threw 12 innings, allowing just two earned runs on 11 hits and four walks, while striking out eight.  This is the first all-UAA honor for Katten.

Cohn hit .421 at the tournament, going eight-for-19 with five extra base hits and four RBIs.  He hit four doubles and a home run to slug .789 over the five games, and added on four walks and two hit-by-pitches to raise his on base percentage to .538.  This is the first all-UAA tournament honor for Cohn, who had previously won a pair of nods to the all-UAA (season-long) team.

The Eagles finished the rain-shortened UAA Tournament with a record of 3-2, good for a third-place finish.
