Emory Assistant Baseball Coach Mike Clark Accepts Head Coaching Position At Denison University
After six seasons as an assistant coach for the Emory University
baseball team, Mike Clark has been named the new
head baseball coach at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
During Clark's six seasons with the team, the Eagles compiled a
186-72-1 record, good for a .718 winning percentage. He
helped lead the Eagles to a second-place national finish in 2007
and trips to the NCAA regional tournaments in 2004, 2006 and
2007. Emory won the UAA Championship four times under Clark,
and never finished worse than second in the conference in his six
campaigns.
"Having spent six years at Emory, the team has become a part of my
family," said Clark. "I'm happy to have been a part of three
regional teams, a World Series team, and a national
runner-up. It has been an honor to work under Coach
Twardoski, and with so many gifted student-athletes, and it is an
experience I will cherish forever."
Clark worked with Emory's hitters and catchers from his arrival in
2004 through the 2008 season, before serving as the Eagles'
pitching coach in 2009. He helped coach three All-Americans
at Emory, in addition to three players who were selected in the
Major League Baseball draft, and four who went on to play minor
league baseball.
"We have been very successful in the six years he has been with us,
and Mike has been a vital part of that success," said Emory head
coach Mike Twardoski. "He has done
everything we asked of him, from working with hitters to serving as
our pitching coach last year. I know, with his work ethic, he
will be successful in all future endeavors."
"I'm excited for the opportunity to bring my experiences from Emory
to Denison as a head coach," said Clark.
