The Emory baseball team will take part in its annual tradition
this weekend, hosting the Rawlings Southern Classic at Chappell
Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Eagles will play Rhodes College at 2:00 PM on Friday, York
College at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Saturday, and LaGrange College
at 2:00 PM on Sunday. Emory will be the home team in the
first game on Saturday and on Sunday. There will also be a
neutral game between York and Rhodes at Chappell Park on Sunday at
10:00 AM, with York as the home team.
The Eagles will enter the game with a 2-4 record, following their
8-5 win on Tuesday against Washington and Lee College.
Rhodes College currently stands at 5-1 on the season, including
five-consecutive victories. The Eagles are 7-3 all time
against the Lynx, including a 12-2 win and a 6-1 loss last
season.
LaGrange College is 5-3 on the campaign and will face both York on
Friday and Rhodes on Saturday in LaGrange, GA before playing the
Eagles on Sunday. The Eagles hold a 23-8 all time advantage
against LaGrange, but lost 15-13 to the Panthers last season.
This will be the opening weekend of baseball for York College in
2010, after the Spartans finished the 2009 season with a record of
28-16, and went to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles are 15-1
all time against York, including a 17-3 win at last year's Rawlings
Southern Classic.
