Riebsame Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honor
Emory University senior outfielder/catcher Patrick
Riebsame was named the University Athletic Association
(UAA) Athlete of the Week for baseball, after batting .500
(nine-for-18) with two home runs and seven RBIs over the course of
four games last week.
During a 10-3 win at Covenant College on Saturday, Riebsame tied a
school record with two home runs, en route to a three-for-five
performance with three runs scored and five RBIs. It marked
the 25th time an Emory player has hit two home runs in a
game. Riebsame became the fifth Eagle to hit two home runs in
a game multiple times over a career, as the senior also belted a
pair against Brandeis on March 9, 2010.
He opened his week on Tuesday by going four-for-five with a double,
two RBIs and a run scored during an 8-6 loss at Maryville
College. Riebsame also went two-for-four during a 5-4 Emory
win over Covenant on Friday, and 0-for-4 during an 8-2 loss to
Atlanta Christian College on Wednesday.
Riebsame is leading all Emory players with 34 RBIs and six home
runs this season, and his .349 batting average is second on the
team. The 2011 UAA Tournament Most Valuable Player moved into
a tie for 12th in school history with 11 career long
balls, and his six home runs this season are the 14th
most in a season in Emory history.
Riebsame has helped lead the 26th-ranked Eagles to a 23-12 overall
record this year.
