Cohn and O’Connor Named to Rawlings/ABCA South Region Gold Glove Team

Cohn and junior second baseman Kevin
O’Connor were named to the Rawlings/American
Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Gold Glove Team, based on their
defensive play during the 2011 season.
Cohn started all 43 games at third base for Emory during the
season, committing just five errors in 155 chances, good for a .968
fielding percentage. He also helped turn 16 double plays over
the course of the campaign, and started the first triple play in
school history against the University of the South on April
13th.
O’Connor started all 43 games at second base for the Eagles
in 2011. He recorded a fielding percentage of 0.979 during
the campaign, with 75 putouts and 116 assists, while committing
just four errors. O’Connor was part of 23 double plays
turned during the year for Emory.
Cohn is the second regional gold glove third baseman in Emory
history, joining Frank Pfister, who earned the award in 2008.
O’Connor becomes the second gold glove second baseman for
Emory, after Joe Roth claimed the national honor during the 2007
season.
Cohn and O’Connor helped lead the Eagles to a 26-17 record
and to the team’s 10th University Athletic
Association (UAA) Championship in 2011.
