Emory to Play for UAA Baseball Championship at 6:00 PM Tonight

The Emory University baseball team will have a chance to clinch at least a share of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship when they face the University of Rochester at 6:00 PM on Sunday night in Sanford, FL.

With Washington University (Mo.) losing to Case Western Reserve University 14-2 earlier in the day, Emory, 3-1 in UAA play, needs to win just one of its final two games at the tournament to claim its first UAA Championship since the 2008 season, and its 10th overall.

Fans not in attendance at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, FL, can still follow the Eagles as they attempt to win the championship, with a live video webcast at http://go.emory.edu/Webcasts/BaseWebcast.html and live statistics at http://www.go.emory.edu/LiveStats/Base/xlive.htm.  RealPlayer is necessary to view the webcast, and can be downloaded for free at real.com.

Rochester, the two-time defending UAA Champions, will enter Sunday night’s contest with a 1-4 record in UAA action, and a 4-5 overall ledger.  Earlier in the tournament, the Eagles defeated the Yellowjackets 7-5.  Behind Emory in the standing are Brandeis University (2-2), Case (3-2) and Washington (2-2).

Should the Eagles lose, they will still have an opportunity to win the conference championship on Monday, when they wrap up UAA play against Washington at 12:00 PM.
