Emory to Host Mid-Week Games against Washington & Lee and LaGrange
The Emory University baseball team will look to build on its four-game winning streak this week, as the Eagles will host Washington and Lee University on Tuesday and LaGrange College on Wednesday. Both games are slated for a 2:00 PM first pitch.

Emory Eagles
Emory completed a four-game sweep at the Rawlings Southern Classic last weekend, defeating York College (Pa.) and Denison University twice each, to improve to 5-1 on the season. The Eagles have been perfect at Chappell Park through the first two weeks of the campaign, going 5-0 at home. As a team, Emory is batting .303 this season, while the Eagles' pitching staff has recorded a 2.89 earned run average. The Eagles are led by head coach Mike Twardoski, whose 342-149-1 career record is good for a .696 winning percentage, the highest mark among active UAA coaches, 15th-highest among all active NCAA Division III coaches, and 21st-best mark among Division III coaches all time to start the season. Assistant Coaches Bobby Perez, Brian Clark, and Greg McMichael will complete Coach Twardoski's staff for the 2011 season.
Washington & Lee Generals
The Generals have started their 2011 campaign with a record of 2-1, including a pair of wins at Greensboro College, and a 10-6 loss at Oglethorpe University on Sunday. Last season, the Generals finished the season with an overall record of 14-19. Through three games this year, Washington & Lee is hitting .303 as a team, while their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.68. The Generals are led by head coach Jeff Stickley, who has a record of 354-342-3 during his 25 years with the squad. He is assisted by Garret LeRose and Brian Smith.
Emory is 9-0 all time against Washington and Lee University, in a series that dates back to the 2000 season with each game being played at Chappell Park. Last year, the Eagles defeated the Generals 8-5, using a five run bottom of the eighth inning to claim a victory. During last year's meeting, Patrick Riebsame went two-for-four with two RBIs.
LaGrange Panthers
The Panthers are 4-1 this season with a pair of victories against Oglethorpe and Sewanee, and a loss to Birmingham Southern College. Last season, LaGrange finished the campaign with a record of 27-19, advancing to the regionals of the NCAA Tournament. This season, the Panthers are batting .276 as a team, while their pitchers have recorded an ERA of 3.98. LaGrange is led by head coach Kevin Howard (who was the head coach at Emory from 1994-99), who has a career 489-287-1 record, including a 312-195 mark with the Panthers.
Emory is 25-8 all time against LaGrange, including a 2-0 record last season with an 8-5 win at Emory on February 28th, and a 15-7 win at LaGrange on March 30th. In the two games last year, senior Gabe Shivers was seven-for-nine with five runs and four RBIs, including a school-record six hits against the Panthers in the game at LaGrange.
