Mike Bitanga

Emory University junior Mike Bitanga pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn a victory during the Eagles’ 4-3 extra-inning win over LaGrange College on Friday.  Entering the game with the score tied at 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning, Bitanga proceeded to allow just one hit and one walk while striking out three batters over his three innings of work, en route to the victory.  This season, the right-handed reliever has appeared in three of Emory’s four games, and is yet to allow a run through five and two-thirds innings of work, striking out seven batters giving up just three hits.  He stands at 1-0 on the campaign with a pair of saves.  Bitanga’s performance helped the Eagles to a 1-1 record during the week, and a 3-1 overall start to their 2012 campaign.
