Lake Named to D3Baseball.com Team of the Week
Emory University junior left fielder Brett Lake has been named to the first D3Baseball.com Team of the Week of 2014, based on his performance through the first two weeks of the campaign.
Through the first seven games of the season, Lake is leading all Emory regulars with a .548 batting average, five doubles, 11 runs batted in, a .774 slugging percentage and a .600 on base percentage. He has also added on a triple, while scoring eight runs, walking four times and stealing a pair of bases. Lake was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on February 10th.
Lake's efforts have helped the Eagles get off to a 5-2 start, while scoring 63 runs over seven games. Emory went 3-1 on its season-opening trip to Southern California, winning games against Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer, and then splitting a doubleheader with 10th-ranked California Lutheran. Last weekend, Emory took two of three games from a series against in-state rival Piedmont College.
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its third season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
Emory will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting LaGrange College at 2:00 PM, before heading to Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC for games against the Monarchs on Saturday and Sunday.
