    2016 Emory Baseball Season Recap The Emory University baseball team made its third consecutive appearance in the College World Series held in Appleton, Wisconsin, finishing seventh in the country during the 2016 season. The Eagles ended the campaign with a 34-12 overall record and were ranked fifth in the final American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball News magazine national poll and sixth in the final D3Baseball.com rankings.

    Five Eagles Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Recognition Five Emory University Baseball players were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-South Region Teams as announced by the organization last week. Senior Dylan Eisner and juniors Hans Hansen and Kyle Monk were selected to the Second Team with junior Brian Hernandez and Jackson Weeg being named to the Third Team.

    Emory Baseball Season Ends with 12-3 Loss to UW-La Crosse at NCAA Division III Championships The Emory University Baseball team saw its 2016 campaign end on Saturday evening at the 2016 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Eagles were defeated in its second-straight contest at the double elimination tournament, falling to fourth-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse, 12-3, in a Pool A elimination game. The Eagles conclude their season with a 34-12 overall record.

    Monk Named D3Baseball.com Honorable Mention All-American; Dimlow Tabbed as All-South Region ROY Five Emory Baseball players were honored by D3Baseball.com by being named to the website’s All-America and All-Region Teams earlier this week. The Eagles were led by junior closer Kyle Monk who was named First Team All-South Region and an Honorable Mention All-America selection and freshman Billy Dimlow who was chosen as the All-South Region Rookie of the Year.

    Kyle Monk Receives Prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award Emory University junior Kyle Monk has been honored as the recipient of the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award for Division III Baseball late Thursday night. The award is given to the top athlete who has reached the National Championship in their respective sport and who also excels in the classroom. Monk is the first ever recipient of the award, male or female, in the history of the Emory Athletics program.

    Hansen Spins Complete Game Shutout as Emory Blanks Marietta, 8-0 Junior Hans Hansen was in complete control on Thursday afternoon, spinning a complete game shutout as Emory defeated Marietta College, 8-0, on day two of the 2016 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Hansen faced just five over the minimum in the game, allowing seven hits, striking out five and did not issue a free pass. With the win, he improved to 9-1 on the year and lowered his earned-run average to an outstanding 1.15 for the season.

    Five Eagles Placed on All-UAA Team; Twardoski & Co. Named Coaching Staff of the Year Emory University juniors Hans Hansen, Brian Hernandez, Kyle Monk and Jackson Weeg were all named to the University Athletic Association First Team with freshman Billy Dimlow being named to the Second Team as the All-UAA teams were released late Tuesday afternoon. In addition, after a third straight 30-win season and the ninth under his tutelage, Head Coach Mike Twardoski along with Associate Head Coach Bobby Perez and assistant coach Sean Kelly were selected as the recipients of the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year Award.

    Baseball Celebrates "Senior Day" With Extra Innings Walk-Off Win against Piedmont The Emory University baseball program celebrated “Senior Day” in crazy fashion on Saturday afternoon against Piedmont College. With one out in the bottom of the 11th and the score tied at 5-5, senior David Coble reached on a walk, stole second and was advanced over to third on a sacrifice by senior Dylan Eisner. With a first base open, the Lions elected to walk junior Brian Hernandez. However on pitch number three of the at bat, Piedmont’s Josh Thomas’s offering was mishandled by catcher Collin Grant and went all the way to the backstop, allowing Coble to score the winning run easily from third.

The game was called before the top of the ninth due to rain.

The Eagles saw their seven game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday, falling to crosstown foe Oglethorpe University, 5-1. It was just the third loss in the previous 17 contests for Emory and the team will carry a 27-8 record into Friday night’s matchup.

Wesleyan Junior Luke Emmett continued his dominant stretch on the mound tossing seven strong innings on Sunday afternoon as the #5/7 Emory University baseball program defeated the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops 8-1 to complete the three-game sweep. The Eagles have now won seven straight and 14 of their last 16 to run their overall record to 27-7 on the season. N.C. Wesleyan falls to 22-16 with the loss and have now lost six straight.

    Twardoski Wins #500 as Emory Splits Saturday Doubleheader Head Coach Mike Twardoski won his 500th career game on Saturday with a 15-4 win over the University of Chicago. Twardoski becomes just the fourth head coach in Emory Athletics history to reach the 500 wins milestone joining Jenny McDowell of Volleyball, Penny Siqueiros of Softball and Don Schroer formally of Men’s Tennis. Twardsoki also is just the 39th active head coach at the NCAA Division III level to eclipse the 500 wins plateau.
