Senior Brian Hernandez of the Emory University Baseball team was named the University Athletic Association's Hitter of the Week for the second time this season and the fourth time in his career for his performance against New York University this past weekend.
Hernandez drove in 10 of the 35 Emory runs as the Eagles closed out the regular season with a 3-1 record at home against NYU. Hernandez had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, finishing the weekend 7-for-16 (.438) and added two doubles and a home run. In the finale, he had a career day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a HR and a career-high five RBI in Emory's come-from-behind win over the Violets.
The Eagles finished the 2017 regular season 27-12 overall and 9-7 in the UAA and now wait to hear if they will earn a bid to this year's NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Division III tournament field will be released on Sunday, May 14th.
