Sophomore Richard Brereton gained recognition from both the University Athletic Association and D3Baseball.com on Monday as he helped the Eagles to a 2-1 week against Oglethorpe and NC Wesleyan. Brereton was named to the D3Baseball.com National Team of the Week as an outfielder and garnered the UAA's Hitter of the Week award.
Brereton recorded multi-hit efforts in all three contests, hitting for a blistering .636 average (7-for-11) to go along with one double, one triple, one home run and a team-best seven RBI. On Tuesday in Emory's 13-1 win over the Stormy Petrels, Brereton had three hits, scored three runs and had a first-inning grand slam. The Darien, CT native also appeared on the mound on Sunday, allowing five runs (3 ER) in four innings of work to go along with six punch outs to take a no decision vs. the Battling Bishops.
The Eagles travel to Berry College Tuesday night before visiting seventh-ranked Birmingham-Southern College next Wednesday, February 28th.
