Emory University sophomores Richard Brereton and James Robertson garnered University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards after leading the Eagles' Baseball program to a 4-1 week including a four-game sweep of conference foe Brandeis University.
Brereton batted a team-high .524 (11-for-21) during the week, collecting multi-hit performances in all five games and recorded team-highs in runs (7), doubles (4) and stolen bases (4). He added four RBI and slugged at a .714 clip. Brereton also earned a win on the mound in the opener against Brandeis, tossing seven innings with six strikeouts while allowing three runs (2 ER) on six hits and three walks as he improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in UAA action.
Robertson spun a career-best eight innings on Saturday as the Eagles topped the Judges, 10-4, in game three of the weekend series. Robertson surrendered just one run on three hits and three walks while striking out a career-high 10 batters en route to his second win of the season.
The Eagles return to the diamond on Friday night as the team opens a three-game series against Huntingdon College. First pitch from Montgomery, Alabama is set for 7:00 PM EST.
