The No. 14-ranked Emory University golf team posted a second-place finish at the University Athletic Association Championships. The 36-hole event was held at the 6,615 yard, par-72 Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, NY.

The Eagles of head coach Mike Phillips registered a second-day score of 300 to finish at 615, just two strokes behind New York University’s championship mark of 613.  Rochester held down the No. 3 spot (630) while Carnegie Mellon (645) and Brandeis (666) rounded out the field.

Sophomore Ryan Dagerman highlighted the Emory effort, capturing medalist honors by virtue of defeating NYU’s Mike Liebfried on the third hole of a playoff.  Dagerman shot a one-over par 73 on Monday to finish at 147.  Dagerman was named the UAA Player of the Year and is Emory’s first conference medalist since 2005 when Mike Lebow accomplished the feat.

Freshman Thomas Mally recorded a seventh-place finish in the 25-player field with a 156 while Tae Cho rebounded from an opening day 83 to post a second-round effort of 74 with his 147 placing him in a tie for eighth place. Other competitors for the Eagles included Shane Miller (158) and David Collura (165).
