Emory Golf Tied For First After Opening Round Of Chick-fil-A Invitational

The No. 15-ranked Emory University golf team finds itself tied for
first place after the first round of action at the Chick-fil-A
Collegiate Invitational. The 36-hole tournament is being
played at the 6,924-yard, par-72 Coosa Country Club in Rome,
Ga.
The Eagles concluded the opening day tied with Lee University with
each squad posting a team score of 290. Shorter
University is in hot pursuit, just one stroke behind at 291 while
there is a four-way tie for fourth place between the University of
the Cumberlands, Milligan College, William Carey and Southwestern
College at 292.
Emory’s Ryan Dagerman and Tae Cho led the Eagles’
effort with each firing a two-under 70 that is good for a
second-place tie in the 113-player field. Freshman Johnathan
Chen recorded a two-over 74 and senior Nick Szem rounded out the
squad’s scorers with a 76. David Collura also competed
and registered a 77.
Posting the best individual round of the day was Jordan Lytton of
Southwestern with a 68.
Final-round action resumes on Tuesday.
