Dagerman Named To Capital One Academic All-District Second Team

Emory University’s Ryan Dagerman (Dallas, TX), who recently completed his junior year as a member of the golf team, has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), based on his athletic and academic success this season.

Dagerman captured Third Team All-America honors this past season after finishing 20^th at the NCAA Division III Championships.  His play helped the Eagles to an eighth-place effort, the program’s first top-10 finish at nationals since 2006.  Dagerman, who ranked as Emory’s top performer in four tournaments during the 2010-11 campaign, established a school seasonal record with a 73.5 strokes per round average.  He posted back-to-back three-round scores of 215 at the Scarlet Course Championship (Camp Lejeune, NC) and Jekyll Island Invitational, tying for the third-lowest score in school history for a 54-hole tourney. He played in all 25 of Emory’s rounds and shot par or better a team-high eight times.

Academically, Dagerman has a 3.63 grade-point average as a Business major.  He was recently recognized as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon Academic All-American.

Golf is one of 13 sports included in the At-Large category.  The others include the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, tennis, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, water polo, and wrestling.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Emory nominees represent the "college division" in District 3 which is composed of NCAA Division II and III, and NAIA schools in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
