Emory Golf 11th After Two Rounds Of The Golfweek Invitational
The No. 14-ranked Emory University golf team is 11th
out of 15 teams after two days of play at the Golfweek Fall
Invitational. The 54-hole tourney is being played at the
6,888-yard, par-72 Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club in Orlando,
Fla.
Emory recorded a second-round score of 296 and stands at 593 after
36 holes.
Greensboro College maintained its hold on first place after a round
of 288 left the Pride at 570. Skidmore College is second with
a 575 while Huntingdon College and UT-Tyler are tied for the No. 3
spot at 580. Methodist rounds out the top five with a mark of
583.
Senior Nick Szem came through with the Eagles’ best
performance of the day with his two-under par 70 giving him a score
of 144, good for a 12th-place tie in the 75-player
field. Szem recorded four birdies and one bogey in coming
through with his best round as a collegian. Sophomore Thomas
Mally is the team’s No. 2 shooter and tied for
36th overall with a total of 149 after notching a 73 on
Monday. Junior Ryan Dagerman is tied for 39th
(72-78—150) and freshman Johnathan Chen is deadlocked for
45th (75-76—151). Senior Charles Raindre is
competing and has totaled a 155.
Brock Elder of Greensboro moved into sole possession of first place
after registering his second straight round of 68 to leave him at
136, three strokes ahead of Justin Tereshko.
