Emory Golf Tied For 9th At Golfweek Invitational
The No. 14-ranked Emory University golf team finds itself tied
for ninth place out of 15 teams after the first day of play at the
Golfweek Fall Invitational. The 54-hole tourney is being
played at the 6,888-yard, par-72 Southern Dunes Golf and Country
Club in Orlando, Fla.
Both Emory and Rhodes College recorded team scores of nine-over 297
in the opening-round of action. Greensboro College holds down the
top spot as it came through with an excellent round of six-under
282. Concordia College (MN) and Skidmore College are
deadlocked for second place at 290 while Transylvania (291) and
Huntingdon College (292) round out the top five squads.
Junior Ryan Dagerman (Dallas, TX) led the Eagles’ contingent
with an even-under 72, good for a 14th-place tie in the
75-player field. Dagerman salvaged his even-par score by
registering a birdie on the 461-yard, par-4 18th
hole. Senior Nick Szem is tied for 26th after
checking in with a two-over par 74. Freshman Johnathan Chen
enjoyed a fine debut as a college player with his score of 75 tying
for 33rd. Sophomore Thomas Mally rounded out the
Eagle scorers on the day with a 76, placing him in a tie for
44th place. Senior Charles Raindre also hit the
course and posted a 78.
Rick Boerner of Wittenberg, Brock Elder of Greensboro and J.P.
Kircher of Huntingdon College are all tied for first place after
firing four-under 68s.
