Emory Finishes 12th At Golfweek Invitational
Final Results
The No. 14-ranked Emory University golf team recorded a
12th-place finish out of 15 teams at the Golfweek Fall
Invitational. The 54-hole tourney was played at the 6,888-yard,
par-72 Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla.
The Eagles posted a final score of 898 (297-296-305) in their
opening tournament of the 2010-11 schedule. Taking home the
team title was No. 7 Greensboro College with a performance of 858
(282-288-288). Huntingdon College, ranked No. 2 nationally,
finished runner-up at 868 (292-288-288) while No. 10 Skidmore
College came in third at 871. Rounding out the top five were
No. 1 Methodist with an 874 and Texas-Tyler at 876.
Senior Nick Szem finished the Invitational as Emory’s top
scorer with a five-over par 221 (74-70-77), good for a
26th-place tie in the 75-player field. Junior Ryan
Dagerman (72-78-76), sophomore Thomas Mally (76-73-77) and freshman
Johnathan Chen (75-76-75) all tied for 41st overall with
scores of 226. Chen turned in the team’s best round of
the day on Tuesday with a 75. Also competing for Emory was
senior Charles Raindre who carded a score of 232.
Brock Elder of Greensboro claimed medalist honors with a
seven-under par 209, two strokes ahead of teammate Ben Nihart and
Chase Blaich of Huntingdon.
Emory returns to action, Oct. 4-5, when it competes at the Berry
Chik-fil-A Tournament in Rome, Georgia.
