Emory Golf Ties For 8th At Greensboro-Gordin Classic
Results
The No. 15-ranked Emory golf team concluded play at the
20th annual Greensboro-Gordin Classic Invitational by
tying for eighth place out of 18 teams. The 36-hole
competition was held at the par-72, 6,800-yard East Course at the
Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, NC.
The Eagles of head coach Mike Phillips posted a second-day
score of 311 and combined that with Sunday’s performance of
300 to finish at 611. Emory tied with Greensboro which
registered rounds of 305 and 306. Taking home the team trophy
was No. 7 Guilford College with a showing of 15-over par 591
(292-299). No. 2 –ranked Huntingdon College was
five strokes off the pace at 596 (296-300) while No. 5 St. Johns
(MN) was third with a 597 (302-295). Rounding out the top
five were Oglethorpe University (294-306—600) and
Transylvania (297-305—602).
Junior Ryan Dagerman was Emory’s top performer, carding a
three-over par 147 (69-78) that tied for sixth place in the
90-player field. Senior Charles Raindre shot an eight-over
152 (74-78) that deadlocked him for 30th position.
Sophomore Thomas Mally (76-78—154) and senior Nick Szem
(81-77—158) also competed for the Eagles.
Emory closes out the fall portion of its schedule, Oct. 18-19, when
it plays at the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational at Royal Lakes Golf
Course in nearby Flowery Branch.
