Emory Golf Finishes Seventh At Royal Lakes Invitational

The No. 15-ranked Emory golf team concluded its final tournament of
the fall portion of the schedule with a seventh-place finish
out of 16 teams at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall
Invitational. The 36-hole tourney was held at the 6,800-yard,
par-71 Royal Lakes Golf Course in nearby Flowery Branch.
The Eagles of head coach Mike Phillips posted a second-day score of
294 to finish with a 599. Claiming the top spot was
Huntingdon College with a 574 (287-287), two strokes ahead of
runner-up Methodist University (292-284—576). Coastal Georgia
(586) was third while Oglethorpe and Cal Lutheran rounded out the
top five with marks of 591 and 592, respectively.
Junior Ryan Dagerman rebounded from and opening-round 77 to card a
one-under 70 to finish with a 147, tops on the Emory squad and good
for a 19th-place tie in the 99-player field.
Sophomore Thomas Mally was the next on the Eagles’ leader
board with a seven-over par 149 (73-76), 26th in the
field. Freshman Johnathan Chen’s 150 (77-73) tied for
27th place while Nick Szem (78-75—153) rounded out
the team’s scorers. Also competing for Emory was junior
Tae Cho (78-84—162) and David Collura (78-79—157).
