Emory Golf Gears Up For UAA Championships
The No. 20th-ranked Emory University golf team
returns to action on Saturday and Sunday (Mar. 12-13) when it
competes at the University Athletic Association
Championships. This year’s 36-hole event will be held
at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.
Joining Emory in the Championship will be Carnegie Mellon, New York
University and the University of Rochester. The Violets of
NYU claimed the 2010 title, finishing two strokes ahead of
Emory. The Eagles’ Ryan Dagerman heads into the weekend
as the defending individual champion after becoming the
program’s first medalist since 2005 following his win over
NYU’s Mike Liebfried on the third hole of a playoff.
In addition to Dagerman, Emory will be represented at this
year’s Championships by Johnathan Chen, Michael Mullavey,
Charles Raindre and Nick Szem.
In Emory’s last outing, it posted a third-place finish out of
10 teams at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals (Feb. 21-22) in
Montgomery, Alabama.
