Emory Golf Team Posts Strong Second To Finish Third At Wynlakes Tourney
The No. 20-ranked Emory University golf team turned in a solid
second-round performance on Tuesday and finished third out of 10
teams at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals. The 36-hole event was
played at the 6,979-yard, par 72 Wynlakes Country Club in
Montgomery, Alabama, and hosted by Huntingdon College.
Emory, which started the day in sixth place, fired a second-round
team score of 304 to finish at 627. Claiming the top spot was
No. 7-ranked Oglethorpe with a 611 (318-293) while No. 2-ranked
Huntingdon College finished runner-up with a mark of 613
(310-303). Methodist University finished fourth (630) while
Berry College rounded out the top five with a 637.
For the second straight day, junior Ryan Dagerman and freshman
Johnathan Chen paced the Eagles’ effort with each player
posting rounds of 74 to finish at nine-over 153, good for a
third-place tie in the 59-player field. Junior Michael
Mullavey chopped seven strokes off his score from Monday and carded
a 76, leaving him at 159, good for a tie for 22nd
place. Rounding out the team’s scorers was senior
Charles Raindre with an effort of 165. Tae Cho finished with
a 167 while sophomore David Collura, competing as an individual,
tied for 30th place with a score of 161 (79-82).
Emory returns to action, Mar. 12-13, when it plays at the
University Athletic Association Championships in Sorrento,
Florida.
