Emory Golf Finishes Second At Al Jones Memorial

The No. 8-ranked Emory University golf team came through with a
solid effort on the final day of action at the Al Jones Memorial
Tournament and posted a runner-up finish out of 14 teams. The
36-hole tourney was being played 6,944-yard, par-71, Cascades Golf
Club in Tyler, Texas.
The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg posted a Tuesday score of 299
to finish with a 601. Claiming the top spot was No.
7-ranked and host UT-Tyler with an effort of 585 (288-297).
Emory sophomore Johnathan
Chen was the squad's top scorer with a second-round 77 giving
him a score of 145, good for fourth place in the 74-player
field. Senior Ryan Dagerman
concluded his two days of play at 147 (74-73) while junior David Collura
was the next Eagle to appear on the leader board with a 153
(79-74). Rounding out the team's scorers was sophomore Alec Berens with a 156
(81-75). Senior Nick Szem also competed
and finished at 160.
Emory returns to action, Oct. 9-11, when it plays at the Golfweek
Division III Fall Invitational.
