Emory Golf Team Concludes Play At Fall Preview Gordin Classic

The No. 7-ranked Emory University golf team concluded its
participation at the Division III Fall Preview Gordin Classic on
Tuesday, finishing 14th. The Eagles’ final
day of action at the 54-hole tourney was played on the 6,850-yard,
par-72 El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort in
Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Emory shot a final day 18-hole team score of 312 en route to
posting a final mark of 935 (303-320--312) . Taking home the
top spot was No. 2-ranked Methodist who finished the event with an
889 (292-304-293). Illinois Wesleyan and Guilford tied for
the runner-up spot at 903 while Christopher Newport (904) and
Oglethorpe (905) rounded out the top five.
Emory senior Ryan Dagerman totaled a team-best three-day score of
228 and finished in a tie for 16th place in the
92-player field. Sophomore Johnathan Chen bounced back from a
tough two opening days to card a 74 on the final day, leaving him
at 234. Sophomore Will Roth (236) and senior Michael Mullavey
(239) rounded out the team’s scorers. Also competing
for Emory was senior Nick Szem (248).
Noah Ratner of Guilford laid claim to medalist honors with a
three-under 213 (72-70-71). Mike Wesko of Methodist was
second at even-par 216 while Ben Nihart held down the third spot on
the leaderboard at 217.
Emory returns to action, Oct. 3-4, when it plays at the
UT-Tyler Al Jones Memorial Golf Tournament.
