Emory Golf Team Completes First Round Of Golfweek D-III Invitational

The No. 8-ranked Emory University golf team is tied for
12th place out of 18 squads after the first round of the
Golfweek D-III Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is being
played at the 6,900-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Club at the Sandestin
Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.
The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg posted a Sunday score of 308
as did LaGrange College. Holding down first place after the
opening 18 holes of play is No. 4-ranked Guilford at 290. No.
7 UT-Tyler is just one stroke behind the Quakers at 291 while
Rhodes College holds down the No. 3 spot with a 296. St. John
Fisher College (297) and No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan (298) round out
the top five.
Emory senior Ryan Dagerman posted Emory’s top round of the
day with a three-over par 74, good for an 18th-place tie
in the 90-player field. Sophomore Jonathan Chen finished with a 75,
tying for the 18th spot. Freshman Alex
Wunderlich carded a 79 while senior Michael Mullavey closed out the
team’s scorers with an 80. Also competing was junior
David Collura who recorded an 82.
The second round of the Golfweek D-III Invitational will be held on
Monday (Oct. 10).
