Emory Basketball Teams Up With Best Buddies
The Emory men’s basketball program recently joined forces
with the Best Buddies program at Emory to provide a clinic for
special-needs young people.
Head Coach Jason Zimmerman and members of the 2010-11 team ran
through a number of passing and shooting drills with the
special-needs group as well the Best Buddies members.
The Best Buddies program at Emory is a chapter of the
National Organization founded with a mission of providing
friendship and social experiences for persons with mental
retardation and for college students acting in a mentoring role.
College students provide community outings and social interactions
with young adults with autism. It has chapters at over 1,500
college and high school campuses across the United States.
“We were certainly happy to work with Best Buddies for a
great cause,” said head basketball coach Jason
Zimmerman. Our players and those involved had a great time
interacting with each other and it was a fun night of
basketball.”
