Senior Christopher Avant helped the Emory men's basketball team to a South Region win in its lone action of the week.
The 6-foot-8 Avant recorded his second double-double of the season and sixth of his career, totaling 12 points along with a career-best 17 rebounds in an 80-73 triumph over Covenant College. In addition, he led all players with a personal-best five steals. He closed out the contest converting six-of-nine field goal attempts, upping his streak to seven games shooting 50 percent or better from the floor. His effort on the boards tied the ninth-highest individual game total in school history.
Through games played Dec. 10, Avant leads the UAA in field goal percentage (.636, 35-55) and is sixth in rebound average (8.1 rpg).
