Emorys McKeever Named the UAA Mens Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week
Emory University sophomore Nathan McKeever was
named the University Athletic Association's (UAA) Defensive Athlete
of the Week for men's soccer, following his performance during two
games in the Eagles' backfield last week.
McKeever played all 180 minutes during a pair of Emory wins last
week, helping the team allow just one win during the stretch.
McKeever played all 90 minutes of the Eagles' 4-0 shutout victory
over Greensboro College on Saturday. The sophomore returned
the next day to play the entirety of Emory's 2-1 win over Guilford
College. In the two games, he helped the Eagles hold a 17-5
advantage in shots on goal.
In his first year on the team, McKeever, a transfer from Providence
College, has started all six Emory games this season, helping the
team to a 0.83 goals against average. Earlier in the season,
he was named to the Sonny Carter Invitational All-Tournament
Team.
McKeever becomes the second-straight Eagle to earn the UAA's
Defensive Athlete of the Week honor, after goalkeeper
Trenton Spindler garnered the award last
week. Emory, which has won five-consecutive games, will
conclude a five-game road trip at Piedmont College on Wednesday.
