Spindler Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honors
Emory University goalkeeper Trenton Spindler
was named Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the
University Athletic Association (UAA), based on his performance
during a pair of Eagle wins last weekend.
Spindler allowed just one goal in 180 minutes last week. He
picked up his first career shutout during the Eagles' 1-0 win over
Methodist University, converting three saves in the process.
During Emory's 2-1 win over Eastern Mennonite University, the
sophomore made five saves and allowed just one goal. Spindler
went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and eight saves over
the two contests, improving to 3-1-0 on the season with a 0.86
GAA.
In addition, before a last minute goal on Sunday, Spindler had
recorded over 238 consecutive scoreless minutes in goal, a streak
stretching over four games.
Spindler's performance this season has helped the Eagles to
three-straight victories, and a 3-1-0 overall record.
