Spindler Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Emory University goalkeeper Trenton Spindler was named Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the University Athletic Association (UAA), based on his performance during a pair of Eagle wins last weekend.

Spindler allowed just one goal in 180 minutes last week.  He picked up his first career shutout during the Eagles' 1-0 win over Methodist University, converting three saves in the process.  During Emory's 2-1 win over Eastern Mennonite University, the sophomore made five saves and allowed just one goal.  Spindler went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and eight saves over the two contests, improving to 3-1-0 on the season with a 0.86 GAA.

In addition, before a last minute goal on Sunday, Spindler had recorded over 238 consecutive scoreless minutes in goal, a streak stretching over four games.

Spindler's performance this season has helped the Eagles to three-straight victories, and a 3-1-0 overall record.
