Emorys John Petroff Named UAA Swimmer of the Week
Emory University senior John Petroff was named
the Men's Swimmer of the Week by the University Athletic
Association (UAA) following his performance against NCAA Division I
Auburn University last week.
In the team's final dual meet of the season, Petroff recorded a
NCAA ‘B' cut time in the 100-yard butterfly during the
fourth-ranked Eagles dual meet against fifth-ranked Auburn.
Petroff finished first in the 100 fly with a ‘B' cut time of
50.76 seconds. He also recorded a time of 1:59.69 in the
200-yard individual medley, good for a fourth-place finish, and a
time of 1:30.14 as part of the Eagles' sixth-place 200-yard
freestyle relay team.
Despite Petroff's performance, the Eagles dropped a 174 - 100
decision to Auburn. Emory finished its dual meet season with
a record of 5-4.
The honor marks the second time this season that Petroff
has been named the UAA Men's Swimmer of the Week. The senior
also earned the title on October 26th.
Petroff and the rest of the Eagles will return to action on
February 17th, as Emory will look for its
12th-consecutive conference title at the 2010 UAA
Championships.
