Emory Swimming & Diving Names Erin Detwiler Assistant Coach

Emory University head swimming and diving coach Jon Howell has announced that Erin Detwiler will be joining the program as assistant coach.  Detwiler replaces former assistant Derek Perkins who recently accepted a coaching position at Clemson.  Detwiler will also serve as Aquatics Director at Emory.

Detwiler comes to the Eagles after a successful two-year stint as head coach of the Waunakee Rural Aquatic Team (WRAT) in Wisconsin.  Detwiler also coached as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee during the 2003-04 season.  She has worked in the private sector in the field of architecture since 2005 with the Engberg Anderson Design Partnership located in Madison, Wisconsin.

Detwiler attended Kenyon College and earned four letters in swimming (1995-1999).  During her career, she was awarded a total of four All-America certificates in 1997 and 1998.  She also competed on track and field team for three seasons.

"We are thrilled to have Erin join our staff," said Howell.  "She brings a depth of experience and a passion for swimming that will have a significant impact on our program."

Detwiler earned her bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Kenyon in 1999 and obtained her master's degree in Architecture from UW-Milwaukee in 2003.
