Jones and McKenzie Named UAA Swimmers of the Week
Emory University junior Bryant Jones and
freshman Kylie McKenzie were named the University
Athletic Association (UAA) Swimmers of the Week, based on their
performances at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet last weekend.
Jones finished sixth in the finals of the 400-yard individual
medley with a season-best and NCAA ‘B’ cut time of
4:02.76. He also swam a season-best and ‘B’ cut
time of 1:52.64 in the preliminaries of the 200-yard butterfly,
finishing eighth in the finals. Jones rounded out the meet
with a time of 1:57.90 in the 200-yard individual medley, good for
a ninth-place finish in the preliminaries.
McKenzie recorded an ‘A’ cut time in the time trials of
the 200-yard breaststroke, swimming a mark of 2:20.00. On the
first day of competition, she swam provisional times with a
fourth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.40), a
third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.41) and a
mark of 57.60 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly time trials.
McKenzie added on her fourth ‘B’ cut time on the
second day of competition, finishing sixth in the 200-yard
butterfly with a ‘B’ cut time of 2:05.81.
The conference athlete of the week honors were the first of the
season for both Jones and McKenzie. The following members of
the Emory Swimming & Diving team have earned UAA Athlete of the
