Andrew Wilson Claims Second Gold Medal at World University Games

Former Emory University swimmer Andrew Wilson captured his second gold medal of the 2017 World University Games on Wednesday, winning the 200 Breaststroke in a time of 2:08.45.

Wilson's championship time was just .08 seconds off his World University Games meet record mark of 2:08.37 he turned in during the preliminary session. His time, which marked a new career-best, broke the previous meet record of 2:08.73 set by Igor Borysik in 2009.

The Bethesda, MD native topped defending 2016 Olympic gold medalist, Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Balandin, by over a second to win the title as Balandin touched at 2:09.70. Russia's Rustam Gadirov claimed bronze with a time of 2:09.72.

Wilson is scheduled to compete in both the 50 Breaststroke and 4x100m Medley Relay later this week in Taoyuan City, Chinese Taipei.
