Michael Goodwin Advances To Finals At The NCAA D-III Championships

Emory University senior Michael Goodwin captured his semifinal round match at the NCAA Division III Men's Singles Championship Saturday evening and will play in the title match on Sunday afternoon.

Goodwin, seeded No. 5 in the 32-player field, edged Conrad Olson of Middlebury College, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, setting the stage for Sunday's clash against Ben Stein of Bates College. Stein advanced to the championship match after upending No. 1 seed John Kauss of Gustavus Adolphus in straight sets.

Action begins at 3:00 p.m. (EDT) Sunday afternoon from the campus of Claremont-Mudd Scripps. Goodwin will be looking to become the first Emory men's player to take home the D-III singles championship.
