Michael Goodwin Advances To Finals At The NCAA D-III Championships
Emory University senior Michael Goodwin captured his semifinal
round match at the NCAA Division III Men's Singles Championship
Saturday evening and will play in the title match on Sunday
afternoon.
Goodwin, seeded No. 5 in the 32-player field, edged Conrad Olson of
Middlebury College, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, setting the stage for Sunday's
clash against Ben Stein of Bates College. Stein advanced to the
championship match after upending No. 1 seed John Kauss of Gustavus
Adolphus in straight sets.
Action begins at 3:00 p.m. (EDT) Sunday afternoon from the campus
of Claremont-Mudd Scripps. Goodwin will be looking to become the
first Emory men's player to take home the D-III singles
championship.
