Emory Men's Tennis Tops ABAC
Results
The Emory University men’s tennis team, ranked No. 3 in
Division III, notched its second straight win Friday afternoon as
it defeated Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at the Woodruff PE
Center. The Eagles raised their overall record to 9-7
following a 9-0 win over the Stallions.
The Eagles came through with straight-set victories in eight of the
nine matches with the exception being at No. 1 singles, where
sophomore Dillon Pottish upped his overall record to 19-6 after
battling to a come-from-behind win over Rasid Winklaar, 1-6, 6-4,
7-6. Sophomore Chris Goodwin upped his won-lost slate to 15-6
as he defeated Romain Vielliard, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 slot.
Freshman Noah Simonson (#3), junior Colin Egan (#4), senior Oliver
Lopp (#5) and rookie Daniel Weingarten (#6) accounted Emory’s
other singles points.
Pottish joined senior Chris Redmond to fashion an 8-4 verdict at
No. 3 doubles while Goodwin and senior Chris Jordan provided the
Eagles with an 8-2 decision at No. 1 over Vielliard and Martin
Cederqvist. Simonson and Lopp won at No. 2 over Winklaar and
Carlos Perez.
Emory returns to action on April 14 when it plays at Shorter
College.
