Emory Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight Match

The Emory University men’s tennis team, ranked No. 3 in
Division III, captured its third straight match this afternoon with
a win over Division II foe USC-Aiken. The Eagles upped their
record to 6-4 following a 7-2 triumph over the No. 17 Pacers who
slipped to 7-8.
Emory held a 2-1 win after doubles as the team’s No. 2 tandem
of sophomore Dillon Pottish and freshman Noah Simonson posted an
8-6 verdict over Nicolas Markiewicz and Filipe Garcia. The
Eagles’ other doubles point came at the No. 3 spot as seniors
Oliver Lopp and David Caplan came away with an 8-6 win over Ben
Klass and Juan Guglielmeti.
Emory captured five of the six singles points, highlighted by
Pottish’s 6-3, 6-4 decision over Gregory Andrade at No.
1. The win boosted Pottish’s overall mark to 16-3, 8-2
in dual affairs. Lopp, playing in his second match at No. 3
notched a come-from-behind victory over Markiewicz, 6-7, 7-6,
10-5. Caplan and junior Colin Egan both manufactured 6-3, 6-0
wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively, while Simonson
accounted for the other point at No. 6.
Emory returns to action on Tuesday, March 30, when it hosts No. 7
Williams College.
