Emory Men's Tennis Defeats Georgetown -- Evens Florida Swing

The No. 3-ranked Emory University men’s tennis team evened
its season mark today as it posted a close win against NCAA
Division I member Georgetown University. The Eagles raised
their record to 3-3 following a 4-3 triumph over the Hoyas who
slipped to 4-5.
Emory took a 1-0 lead in the match after claiming a pair of wins in
doubles action. The sophomore duo of Chris Goodwin and Dillon
Pottish claimed a victory at No. 1 over GU’s Andrew Bruhn and
Bryan Miller, 9-7, while the Eagles’ No. 3 tandem of seniors
Chris Redmond and David Caplan notched a 8-3 triumph over David
Tillem and Charlie Cais.
The Eagles registered three wins in singles play, led by Pottish
who upped his dual record to 5-1 with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph against
Tillem. Other winners included Redmond in straight sets at No. 2
and senior Oliver Lopp with a come-from-behind decision at No.
4.
The win over Georgetown evened Emory’s spring trip record at
1-1. On Monday, the Eagles dropped an 8-1 verdict to Barry
College, the No. 2-ranked Division II team in the nation.
Goodwin recorded the team’s lone win in that match with a
6-4, 7-6 (3) outcome against Ales Svigelj.
Emory returns to action on Thursday, March 11, with a match against
Lynn University, the fourth-ranked Division II program in the
nation.
