Emory Men's Tennis Sends Pair To NCAA Division III Championships
Emory University sophomores Dillon Pottish
and Chris Goodwin have been selected to the field
of competitors at the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Individual and
Doubles Championships. Pottish and Goodwin will compete as
individuals in the 32-player singles.
This marks the second-consecutive year that Goodwin has qualified
for the National Championship. Last season, he and his older
brother, Michael, competed in the doubles competition. The
selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based
on won-lost record, strength of schedule and availability of
student-athletes.
Pottish has held down the No. 1 singles post for the No. 2-ranked
Eagles and owns a keen record of 24-6 (16-5 dual). Goodwin,
the squad’s No. 2 singles player, posts a 19-7 overall effort
(14-6 dual).
The team championship will be held May 25-27, with the singles and
doubles championships following, May 28-30. The finals
will be held at Oberlin College.
Head Coach John Browning and his squad will compete at the
Washington & Lee Regional this weekend. The Eagles’
hit the courts on Saturday against the winner of the
Transylvania-Wilkes University match that will be played on
Friday.
