Emory's Dillon Pottish Named UAA Men's Tennis Athlete Of The Week
Emory University sophomore Dillon Pottish (East
Quogue, NY) has been selected as the University Athletic
Association Tennis Player of the Week after turning in a stellar
performance at the ITA South Atlantic Regional Championships over
the weekend.
Pottish rattled off six wins en route to the singles championship
while teaming with sophomore Chris Goodwin to capture the doubles
title. Pottish, seeded No. 4 in the 64-player singles
bracket, defeated Antti Saari of North Carolina Wesleyan, 6-2, 6-0,
in the semifinals before topping Goodwin, 6-3, 6-1 in the title
showdown. The duo then marched through the doubles
competition, posting five victories including a hard-fought 9-7
verdict over teammates Chris Redmond and Chris Jordan in the
finals.
Pottish earned a pair of All-America berths for his efforts and now
advances (along with Goodwin in doubles) to the Small College
National Championships, Oct. 14-16, in Mobile, Alabama.
