Emory Men's Tennis Falls To Azusa Pacific
The No. 4-ranked Emory men’s tennis team saw a six-match
win streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon as it dropped a 6-3
decision at Azusa Pacific. The setback dropped Emory’s
record to 8-2. Azusa Pacific is the No. 4-ranked team in the
NAIA ranks.
The Eagles trailed by a 2-1 margin following doubles action with
senior Colin Egan and junior Dillon Pottish earning the
team’s lone point at the No. 3 slot with an 8-6 victory over
the Cougars Benedikt Eger and Daniel Moore. The triumph upped
the duo’s spring record to 7-1 this spring.
Emory claimed two of the singles matches with Pottish battling to a
three-set win over Janosch Apelt, 6-7, 6-3, 11-9, at No. 1 which
raised his dual record to 10-0. Freshman Simon Lavoie-Perusse came
away with Emory’s other point with a 7-6, 6-4 victory against
Frederik Wilkens at No. 5.
Emory returns to action on Thursday (Mar. 16) when it plays at the
No. 16 team in Division III, the University of Redlands.
