Dillon Pottish Wins ITA Regional Singles Title -- Goodwin and Humphreys Capture Doubles Crown
On the final day of action of the ITA Regional Championship
Emory junior Dillon Pottish successfully defended his singles title
while teammates Chris Goodwin and Will Humphreys captured the
doubles crown.
In Pottish’s first action on Sunday, he topped Humphreys,
6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals before registering a 6-0, 6-2, decision
over teammate Colin Egan in the finals. Pottish proved to be a
formidable foe during the Regionals as he dropped just eight games
in rattling off his six victories. By virtue of his effort,
he earns All-America honors for the second straight season.
Goodwin and Humphreys nabbed first place in doubles with the pair
defeating Pottish and Eric Rothschild, 8-1, in the
championship. With the win, Goodwin lands All-America acclaim
for the third straight campaign while it marks Humphreys’
initial All-America honor.
In the "B" Singles competition, Rothschild posted a 6-4, 6-1
triumph over Emory freshman Jackson Isaacs in the title
contest.
The trio of Pottish, Goodwin and Humphreys now advance to the Oct.
14-17 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College
Championships in Mobile, Alabama.
