Dillon Pottish Named UAA Tennis Player Of The Week
Emory University junior Dillon Pottish (East
Quogue, NY) has been selected as the University Athletic
Association Tennis Player of the Week after turning in outstanding
performances in both singles and doubles in helping the Eagles to a
4-0 record. It marks the sixth time in his career that
he was won the honor.
Emory opened the week with a 5-2 win over Division I foe Georgetown
(Feb. 17) before capturing the ITA National Indoor Championships
with wins over Mary Washington (8-1), Carnegie Mellon (8-1) and
Washington University (6-3).
Pottish, the No. 1-ranked singles player in the Division III ranks,
went undefeated at No. 1 singles, starting with a straight-set 6-2,
6-1, decision over Michael Clark of Georgetown. At the
ITA Indoors, Pottish rattled off three straight-set victories
including a 6-4, 6-2 verdict over WU’s Isaac Stein in
the title match. Pottish and Colin Egan registered a
3-1 mark at No. 3 doubles, including a pair of wins at the ITA
Indoors. So far this year, Pottish has racked up an
impressive overall singles record of 17-1, including an 8-0 effort
this spring. He and Egan have chalked up a 5-1 slate at
No. 3 doubles.
The No. 4-ranked Eagles return to action on Mar. 5 when they host
Christopher Newport.
