Dillon Pottish Named UAA Tennis Player Of The Week

Emory University junior Dillon Pottish (East Quogue, NY) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Tennis Player of the Week after turning in a stellar performance at the ITA South Atlantic Regional Championships last weekend. It marks the third time in his two years at Emory that he has won the honor.

Pottish, who entered the Regional as the No. 1 seed in singles, was a formidable foe, dropping just eight games over his six victories in his march to the crown.  Pottish recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins in his first three matches against Xan of Centre College, Ross Beall of Oglethorpe and Marcus Ribbenstedt of North Carolina Wesleyan.  After topping teammate Peter Marcinkowski in the quarterfinals, Pottish beat another Eagle, Will Humphreys, 6-4, 6-1, in the semifinals. In the championship match, Pottish defeated Emory senior Colin Egan, 6-0, 6-2.

Pottish also enjoyed a productive run in doubles play, joining forces with Eric Rothschild to advance to the championship contest where they fell to teammates Chris Goodwin and Humphreys.

By virtue of his performance in singles, he earned All-America honors for the second straight season, and he now advances to the ITA Small College Championships, Oct. 1-17, in Mobile, Alabama.
