Pottish Claims D-III Singles Title At ITA Small College Championships -- Advances To Super Bowl Portion Of Event
Emory senior Dillon Pottish defended his D-III singles title at
the ITA Small College Championships Saturday morning as he defeated
Adam Putterman of Washington University in straight sets.
Pottish boosted his record to 9-0 this season following a 6-0, 6-1
verdict over Putterman. The Small College Championships
are being held in Mobile, Alabama.
Pottish, the No. 1 singles Division III singles seed, moves on to
the “Super Bowl” round of the Championships where he
will meet Chris Freeman of Embry Riddle on Saturday starting at
2:00 pm (EDT).
The USTA/ITA National Small College Championships are comprised of
the eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) from NCAA
Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges. The
winner of Saturday’s match advances to the “Super
Bowl”, which consists of the singles champions from NCAA
Division II, Division III, NAIA and JUCO.
The "Super Bowl" champion earn a wild card into the 2011 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships held at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center November 3-6.
